It is approximately 100 miles long and is considered one of the best mountain biking trails in North America. Mountain biking is a popular way to traverse the trail. Others hike, and ride horses. In addition to being physically arduous it provides beautiful scenery and many opportunities to observe wildlife. Be sure to pack your camera; bring plenty of water.

These photos are of the area around the trailhead on the north end of the trail. The first two are of the CCC Campground which is where the trail begins. In the photos you will see horse trailers and people getting their horses ready for a ride. The badlands are an excellent place for trail rides. This campground is also just a plain old good place to camp. it is only a couple of miles from the entrance to the park.
